Hey Everyone! I just finished creating some content for a friend of mine. Every May, he runs a challenge where he encourages people to run a 5K every day throughout the month, and I help with some of the production.

This year, I’ve been tasked with creating social media stingers to encourage people to listen to the podcast that goes along with the 5K challenge. I’m doing this as extra work, putting in extra effort. I’m not getting paid and I’m not receiving any kind of commission — I’m simply helping a friend create content for himself. And I love it!

However, this has sparked some thoughts for me.

In my last newsletter, I mentioned that time is something that’s scarce for me. Yet right after saying that, I took on some new projects — including this 5K Every Day challenge. The thing is, I’ve delivered on what I said I would do. Every day I’ve been creating social media posts — short videos that promote the podcast and everything else that goes with it. We’ve made AI songs, AI videos, and interviews with other people. I’ve taken all of that and condensed it into small clips, edited them, and added captions. I’ve done it every single day.

We’re only a few days into the challenge (today is May 7th), but I’ve stayed consistent and worked hard. I don’t say this to pat myself on the back. In fact, I’m actually humbled — and a little ashamed.

I’ve kept telling myself I don’t have time to make these kinds of things for myself, yet I found the time to make them for someone else. That tells me I do have the time — I just need to use it better. My new conviction is that I actually have the time, but I need to use it wisely and schedule it properly for all the tasks I want to get done.

I’m really excited about what this means for the future: using the tools and the time I have to create excellent entertainment that, hopefully, you’ll watch.

Have a great night, everybody!

Also, go check out the challenge! #5KMay
